First Draft of Magazine Ad (Sabrina)

I like the design of this but I feel it needs more colour and is a bit top heavy. The name of the artist also isnt mentioned which is an obvious convention of album advertisments.

Ansillery Text / Magazine Ad (Sabrina)

I used the webiste 'picmonkey' to edit the picture of my model I removed blemished brightened her eyes, slimmed her down and made her teeth whiter. I also used a blue tinted filter to bring out the colour in the picture and make it look better quality.

Below is my process of choosing and positioning text according the the conventions of magazine ad and the genre of new wave.

Digipak First full Draft (Sabrina)

To create this I carried on the theme, colours and font of my front and inside cover. The song numbered on the back of the album are the album 'Fashion' is in by David Bowie. I used leopard print as the common demoninater throughout the album and i used simplified fashion drawings for the CD's. I really feel this digipak capture the essence of New Wave, which commonly used bright colours and animal prints, and also sums up the song and video.

album cover front and inside drafts (Sabrina)

I used photoshop in my process after i finished the 'fashion drawings'. To create the red splats on the dress below I used secondary source images off google and rubbed out the edges to give the impression that the dress has red splats on it. I also added red lipstick and a necklace to this image so it is different to the other pre-dress which i also used in the video.

Once I was done with the images I used the select tool to remove the white background.

To create the final image I used a plain background with a leoprint image i got off google and added colour to it. I then layer my drawings next to each other.
I seperated my drawing into two images because i felt it looked better have the middle one stand out more.

I used my final dress in the music video as the middle drawing in this image to make it stand ou like it does in the video.
Below are my various drafts of type I used, which i got from the website 'dafont'.

These are my final images that I am going to use in my digipak, I am very happy with them and I feel they reflect what my music video and song are about.

Filming Day Eight 19/02/14 (Emma)

After Sabrina and I had made the dress by splatting red paint on it at my house, making it unusual and unique and funky to look at, we allowed it to dry and I brought it to college for the glamorous scene to be filmed. Sabrina took the job of doing our models hair and make up because she has become very good at doing this with the experience she has had. She gave her colourful/new wave style eyes and bright red lips along with big hair to make her stand out more than she did in the previous makeovers.

As I had the song (Fashion by David Bowie) on my phone, I played the song like always to make her dance in time with the beat and framed the shot right to match the previous shots I had recorded. I also set up the lighting boxes in the same way I usually do to make sure that each shot matched and the continuity was strong.

We made our model act confident and really enjoy the outfit she was wearing because in our music video this is the one that wins the vote from the professional model. We gave her stand outish jewellery and made the handmade dress look extremely glamorous.

This was the last scene we needed to film before being able to complete the editing, and by this point we came across no problems because we had learn from mistakes we were previously making like almost falling over wires around the lighting room, which was solved by moving them around the edge of the room before actually filming. I believe we got all of the shots we wanted to and they have come out successfully and support the new wave genre strongly.

Filming Day Seven (Sabrina)

Today we filmed the 'geek' scenes, which play a major role in the narrative of the music video. We shot in two different areas, one in Emma's bedroom and the other in the media department against a white wall. The models hair and makeup was pretty straight forward, she had her hair in a pony tail and glasses on. We let our model get ready whilst we set up the camera and lighting.

On this day we also did the shots of the paint being splattered on the dress. I used these images for inspiration, I didn't take pictures of this process, however the process is shown in the music video as part of the narrative.

This is second location we used to film the 'geek' scene, we filmed her reading reading the magazine

Filming Day Six 5/02/13 (Emma)

For the natural scene before the glamorous homemade dress section, Sabrina cut a white dress making it look fashionable and plain before we decorate it together making it look unique and individual. We set up the lighting and cameras so they were the same as all of the other shots.
I did the cinematography while Sabrina made sure the look of the shot was good and how we wanted it.

We made sure that when we needed our model to dance, we danced with her and told her what moves to do to match the style of clothes she was in to make her feel comfortable. We told her when to look away and when to look directing into the lens of the camera which made it easy for her to know what to do and not to feel uncomfortable.

We decided that we wanted to experiment with the lighting, so while I was filming the shot, Sabrina got a box light and changed the direction of it to and from our model continuously, sometimes lighting her and sometimes not, this gave a disco type effect and did not look very good so we are not going to use this in our video, but it was fun to experiment differently with the lighting.

Here is some of the footage that we recorded during the filming, unedited -

I also experimented with the camera movements, by zooming in and out in time with the music while our model danced, it gave a really modern feel to it and I think this is one of the shots we will include in our music video.
